The education on Waldorf schools after Rudolf Steiner, tries to develop
manual/artistic skills as much as cognitive ones in our children.
Their lessons on crafts start, where other schools drop the subject.
In Cuxhaven, the school has introduced sailing and boatbuilding in their
lessons from grade seven to ten. I was hired as their teacher. One aim
is to build a small sailboat in a common effort of all four grades
during their woodworking lessons. This naturally will take some time,
so while the boat is under construction, the pupils will have the opportunity
to learn seamanship on several other boats, which the school is running.
One is especially worth mentioning. Please look at the next chapter.
